The Bread Box program is our innovative response to a pressing need: rescuing day-old bakery items that would otherwise go to waste and swiftly delivering them to those facing food insecurity. This initiative is a crucial component of our broader edible food recovery efforts, focusing specifically on partnering with local bakeries to ensure their unsold goods find purpose in feeding our community.

 

How We Rise to the Challenge

Swift Collection and Distribution

• Partner with local bakeries to collect unsold items daily

• Distribute baked goods within 36 hours to maintain freshness

• Operate daily from 9 AM to 5 PM until all items are dispensed

Our distribution hub is centrally located in an underserved neighborhood where:

• Over 50% of residents identify as Latino

• Nearly 70% live at or below the poverty line
